Yoga Conditioning for Hips and Legs Sunday October 13th, 2019 2-4pm at Radiant
Have you ever experienced the all-too-common yoga “pain in the butt” injury? It’s that nagging soreness around your sit bones when you bend forward. Perhaps you have tight hamstrings that just won’t budge, or you’re dealing with plantar fasciitis.
How about hip stuff? Everyone has had some sort of hip challenge in the past. The variations in the shape of the hip socket (the acetabulum), and how the head and neck of the thigh bone (the femur) are shaped and angled, largely determine one’s range of motion. Not only that, but this wide spectrum of hip structure means that, for each of us, some postures will be really beneficial, some postures may require more sensitivity in exploring, and others will be inaccessible. We’re all built a little differently, and understanding this will revolutionize your practice.
If neither hamstring tendon pain, nor hip stuff rings true to you, perhaps you want to learn how to strengthen your hips and legs for better balance on and off your mat. Or, maybe you want to learn to stabilize and mobilize your sacrum.
Expect to learn about anatomy, explore yoga and other movement techniques to strengthen and mobilize, ask questions specific to your needs, laugh, and get a good practice in.
This workshop costs $30 and includes a handout to support you in your practice during and after the workshop. There will be an anatomy and biomechanics portion (you’ll meet my skeleton helper, Charles!), followed by practice. If you’ve attended a previous yoga conditioning workshop, join me again as you will learn new tricks and techniques for continued support on your path. For yoga teachers, each workshop qualifies for 2 hours of continuing education through Yoga Alliance.
