Yoga therapy is a holistic system of wellness. Drawing from ancient practices combined with our modern understanding of neuroscience, yoga therapy includes postures, breathing exercises, mindfulness tools, practical application of yoga philosophy, and Ayurveda, to foster healing and growth. While yoga is ultimately a healing modality, yoga therapy is the specific application of the practices and teachings tailored to the individual.
WHAT DOES A YOGA THERAPY SESSION LOOK LIKE?
A yoga therapy session begins with an intake of the symptoms you are experiencing and goals you wish to attain. I will assess the strength, stability, and mobility of different muscle groups using specific exercises and tests to better learn where you may need support. Each session may include postures, breathing exercises, mindfulness tools, and discussion on how we can use the inner teachings of yoga to thrive in life.
And let’s not forget the yoga homework! Don’t worry, it’s usually only 20 minutes or so, and I will provide you a very detailed write up of what we learned, what we practiced, and your homework… Yoga and anatomy nerds, you’re going to love the write up!
Contact me for your first session and please complete the intake form 24 hours before your lesson.
