My Story
A few days after my 30th birthday in 2010, I traveled to southern India to live at an ashram, learn meditation and study philosophy. I had already graduated from my first yoga teacher training and had been teaching part-time for several years but I was struggling with my meditation practice, and I was hungry for a deeper understanding of yoga.
After a couple of months studying yoga therapy under the guidance of Swami Tureyananda, it became clear that I wanted to pursue a Yoga Therapy certification. When I moved back to the states, I relocated to Portland, OR, started teaching yoga full-time and enrolled in a certification program. In 2015 I graduated from a two-year Yoga Therapy Program with Sarahjoy Marsh, earning my ERYT-500 hr. certification through Yoga Alliance, as well as my C-IAYT through the International Association of Yoga Therapists.
Within my Yoga Therapy training I was introduced to Pelvic Health and the science of trauma including the Polyvagal Theory. These became areas of special interest that evolved into specialties. Now a significant portion of my work revolves around the nervous system and pelvic health.
I participate in monthly continuing education with two professional groups for Pelvic Health practitioners: The Pelvic Collective (a Portland, OR-based group) and Pelvic Health Professionals (an international group). I’m also student the Dzogchen tradition of Bön Buddhism and in April 2024 will graduate from a 2.5 year program rooted in Dzogchen teachings.
